Recently, we bought a 90 year-old lake house in the north woods of Wisconsin. It was built in 1937 by a man from Chicago in the carpet business.

F. Scott Fitzgerald may have said it best, “the test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function.” Behavioral economists refer to this as cognitive dissonance.

Life is always pleasant at 2500 feet. At one-half mile in the air you see things differently than on the ground.

Today’s economic environment is at a crossroads with global supply chain issues, inflation levels not seen in 40 years, falling bond and equity markets, rising interest rates, a war in Europe, and whispers of recession in the air. But with change comes opportunity.
